Steel Magnolias takes place in the 1980's in Truvy's Beauty Salon in Chinquapin, Louisiana. A group of regulars meets there on Saturday morings to exchange recipes, banter and barbs. The six women, though very different, provide each other with friendship and support through all of life's occurrences.
